Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the DVD I reviewed in this Blog Post. The opinions I share are my own.

I have a treat for you guys! Thanks to Warner Bros. I also have a Riverdale: The Complete Second Season DVD to giveaway. Rules for the giveaway are to follow, but first, enjoy a clip from the season and then check out what this set has to offer with my review below! *SPOILER ALERT*

Based on the characters from Archie Comics, Riverdale returns with its subversive take on small-town life. Determined to protect the sanctity of his town in the wake of his father’s shooting by the Black Hood, season two of Riverdale finds Archie (KJ Apa) seeking justice…and vengeance. As a civil war brews between the Northside and the Southside, loyalties are divided. Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Jughead’s (Cole Sprouse) relationship enters fragile territory when Jughead decides to join the Southside Serpents and Betty’s long-lost brother Chic returns. Veronica (Camila Mendes) finds her life upended by her father Hiram’s (Mark Consuelos) arrival and his dark schemes for the town’s future. Everyone will have to pick a side, including Queen Bee Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch), star-to-be Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray), Kevin Keller (Casey Cott), and Reggie Mantle (Charles Melton). Things are never what you’d expect in Riverdale, and that’s especially true as Archie and the gang race to avert a full-on riot and to solve the mystery of the Black Hood.

Riverdale: The Complete Second Season DVD Review

As I mentioned, I was given the opportunity to review the 2nd season of Riverdale on DVD. The set came with deleted scenes for every episode for the season, a behind-the-scenes feature of the musical episode “A Night to Remember”, a gag/blooper reel and more.

The Riverdale: The Complete Second Season DVD came with 5 featurettes. Riverdale Vocal Warmups, Caught Between Two Worlds: The Darkness Inside, Making The Musical Riverdale, Riverdale Pop Quiz and Riverdale: 2017 Comic-Con Panel. My favorite featurette was the behind-the-scenes look at the making of Riverdale’s Musical Episode titled “A Night to Remember”. This was great insight into how the episode was made, choreographed and it was fun to see many of the cast out of their “element”. I was surprised at how talented each of them were at singing and dancing.

Deleted Scenes

One thing that impressed me about this DVD set, was that every episode had at least one deleted scene that went with it. Normally that is not the case with other TV show DVD sets. Watching deleted scenes from the episodes is one of my favorite features of TV show DVD sets. And these scenes did not disappoint.

Another favorite DVD feature I always enjoy from TV show DVD sets, is the gag reel or some may call it the “blooper reel”. It’s fun watching the cast flub their lines and acting silly. This particular gag reel was funny but I would have liked to have seen more. But still, it was very fun to watch and I found myself laughing out loud many times.

Overall Thoughts

I really enjoyed this DVD set, and would recommend it to any fan of Riverdale. Although, I would have liked to have seen more from the gag reel, the other features made up for it. Watching everything also got me really excited for season 3, which premieres October 10th on The CW.

  1. Ok I don’t know where these riverdale writers are going with this unbelievable storyline of Archie and Betty but my god it’s a stomach turner. It was always supposed to be jughead and Betty. These writers better get their heads out of their ass’s and put bughead back together or else. I don’t care if the comic books have Archie and Betty together this is the show version and we want to see bughead together. If you know what’s good for you, you will have those 2 end up together. (As in jughead and betty).
